Resetting a Panasonic DECT Cordless Phone
To reset your Panasonic DECT cordless phone, follow these three easy steps. First, unplug the principal base unit from the phone line as well as the power supply. Next, remove the batteries from each handset for an hour or so. Finally, replace the batteries and turn on the base unit.
Resolving KXTG64/KXTG80 Faults
You could experience the following faults with the KXTG64/KXTG80 models:
- Handset dies or stops performing.
- The handset is ringing, but you cannot answer the incoming phone calls or talk.
- Static noise can be heard during phone calls.
If this happens, simply unplug the base unit from the phone line. Then, remove the batteries from each handset and place them back in. Finally, plug the base unit back in and the unit will automatically reset itself.
Why won’t my DECT telephone work with my phone line?
If your DECT phone is not working with your phone line, there are a few possible reasons.
When setting up your new phone, be sure to only use the cord that was provided with the phone and that it is connected to the phone socket. Do not use parts from previous phones. Also, confirm that no symbols are flashing on the handset.
Avoid interference with your signal by not allowing other equipment to share the same phone line. In addition to that, only use a phone line that does not have broadband. Broadband data could be causing interference with the telephone. In this case, your internet company must provide a new ADSL filter. Try to remove all other devices connected to the phone line to isolate where the problem is coming from. If you have a corded phone which is known to be good, you can plug the phone to the same place where the cordless phone is connected and check if your problems are with the line or your corded system.
You can follow the same steps with any digital phone system, just keep in-mind that in a digital phone system the phone lines are connected to the control unit and not directly to the digital phones. If none of these steps are successful and your Panasonic digital phone still does not work with your phone line, try resetting the telephone system.
